Batik Air Malaysia will commence twice-weekly roundtrips between Kuala Lumpur (KUL) and Dili (DIL) on June 6, 2025, becoming the fourth international airline to fly into Timor-Leste and the only airline operating on the Malaysia - Timor-Leste country pair.
Batik Air CEO Chandran Rama Muthy said the expansion aligns with Batik Air’s vision of connecting emerging destinations. It is expected to boost business collaboration, educational exchanges, and cultural interactions between the two countries.
“We anticipate this route will enhance accessibility to Timor-Leste, offering passengers a direct, hassle-free journey with a flight duration of approximately four hours, eliminating the need for multiple layovers and providing a faster, more convenient connection between Malaysia and Timor-Leste," he said. "This new service will also further strengthen Kuala Lumpur International Airport as a key strategic transit hub in the region.”
Dili’s Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport is presently served by Qantas and Airnorth, which fly in from Darwin (DRW) and Citilink, which flies in from Denpasar (DPS). Local carrier AeroDili connects the airport to Denpasar, Singapore (SIN) and Xiamen (XMN).
The Batik Air flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays, leaving Kuala Lumpur at 02:15 and landing at Dili at 07.30. The flight will operate as OD372. The return flight will leave Dili on the same day at 08:20 and land at Kuala Lumpur at 11.30. This flight will operate as OD373. Batik Air will use a B737-800 on the route. The aircraft seats 150 passengers in economy class and 12 in business class.
Separately, Batik Air will begin flying nonstop between Kuala Lumpur and Sydney (SYD) on December 6, 2025, using an A330-300. The flights will operate three times per week. These flights will supplement the existing Kuala Lumpur – Denpasar – Sydney B737-800 service and mark a significant increase in Batik’s presence in Sydney.
