Sydney a hit for t’way Air, daily services from late 3Q 2026

The Seoul – Sydney route has proved a hit for Korean low-cost carrier t'way Air, with the airline planning to increase its thrice-weekly round-trips to daily flights in October as it seeks to cash in on strong passenger and freight demand.

Effective October 19, 2026, t'way Air will start flying daily between Seoul (ICN) and Sydney (SYD) using A330-200/300s. As reported by Korean-language outlet Sports Chosun, since starting flights to Sydney in 2022, t'way Air has carried around 120,000 passengers annually on the route and enjoyed load factors of around 90%.

Australian Government data provides a more detailed overview of t'way Air's Australian service. In the 12 months to March 31, 2026, t'way carried 119,996 passengers on the Australia – Korea country pair. Its 411 flights on the Seoul – Sydney route achieved an average passenger load factor of 84.54%, although load factors do not necessarily correlate with profitability.

t'way Air is also enjoying strong demand from freight shippers for space in the belly holds of its aircraft on the Korea – Australia country pair. Cargo volumes on the Incheon – Sydney route rose threefold from about 900 tonnes in 2023 to about 2,700 tonnes in 2025. Electronics, car parts and machinery regularly feature on the cargo manifest.

Sydney is t'way Air's only Australian destination. It competes with Korean Air, Asiana and Jetstar on the Seoul – Sydney city pair. Korea is growing in popularity as a tourist destination for Australians, driven in part by the growing number of flights and visa-free entry.

Meanwhile, the t'way Air brand will soon disappear from the skies, with the airline recently receiving shareholder and regulatory approval to rebrand as Trinity Airlines.
