Qantas Wants to Codeshare With Air France on its Paris Flights

Qantas wants to put the Air France AF flight code on its flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG). In a May 5, 2025, letter to the International Air Services Commission, Qantas’s Executive Manager of Policy, Industry and International Affairs, Anna Pritchard, says the expanded codeshare arrangements will allow Air France to provide additional connectivity to Australia via Qantas’ non-stop services.
Qantas already has a codeshare arrangement with Air France. Under the current arrangements, Qantas passengers can travel to Paris, Singapore (SIN), Bangkok (BKK), or Hong Hong (HKG) on Qantas aircraft before continuing their journey onwards on Air France aircraft to Paris.
Additionally, if Qantas-ticketed passengers fly to Paris on Qantas aircraft, the existing arrangement allows ongoing travel within France and to other European cities on Air France. The benefits of a codeshare include a single ticket, guaranteed connections, and through checked luggage.
Air France passengers enjoy reciprocal arrangements on their flights to Australia.
“Under these expanded arrangements, it is proposed that Air France will codeshare on Qantas’ operated services between Australia and Paris,” Pritchard writes.
Qantas operates a thrice weekly B787-9 flight between Sydney (SYD) and Paris via Perth (PER). QF33 departs Sydney every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while QF34 departs Paris Charles de Gaulle every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Air France does not fly to Australia.
“These expanded codeshare arrangements enable Air France to provide additional connectivity to Australia via Qantas’ non-stop services,” notes Pritchard. “The ability for each of these partner airlines to expand their selling proposition by independently marketing and pricing services between Australia and France enhances the range of choices and benefits for consumers.”
“Qantas, as the operating carrier, intends to provide Air France with access to available inventory on a free sale basis.”
Qantas hopes to start placing the Air France flight number on QF33/34 from May 30, 2025, or as soon as all necessary approvals are received.
