Qantas ending wet-leased Finnair A330-300 ops

Qantas is ending its use of wet-leased Finnair A330-330s. As reported by Analytic Flying, Qantas has now transitioned to dry-lease only arrangements with its Finnish oneworld partner.

Qantas began leasing Finnair jets in October 2023. Since then, it has wet-leased three Finnair jets, usually two at a time.

The most recent wet-leased aircraft were OH-LTM (msn 994) and OH-LTS (msn 1078). Qantas leased the planes to ease an in-house capacity shortfall and primarily used them on the Sydney (SYD) – Singapore (SIN) and Sydney – Bangkok (BKK) city pairs.

OH-LTM operated its final flights for Qantas on March 28, flying a Sydney – Singapore – Sydney rotation. The following day, March 29, the aircraft departed for Bangkok and, at the time of publication, is enroute to Helsinki (HEL).

OH-LTS flew a Sydney – Bangkok – Sydney rotation on March 28. At the time of publication, it remains in Sydney but is expected to leave for Finland shortly.

Aero South Pacific has contacted Qantas for comment. However, the airline continues to use Finnair aircraft under dry lease arrangements, per the original plan.

Qantas currently has two dry leased Finnair A330-300s, specifically VH-QPK (msn 1067) and VH-QPL (msn 1173). The two aircraft primarily fly the Sydney – Singapore and Sydney – Honolulu (HNL).

The first dry leased Finnair A330s arrived in Sydney late last year on three-year lease terms.
