Qantas has ferried in its fourth A321-200XLR. The aircraft, VH-OGD (msn 12668) landed at Brisbane (BNE) on February 22, 2026, flying in from Hamburg (XFW) via Bangkok (BKK).
The Qantas Group has firm orders for another forty-four A321XLRs. The aircraft will replace some older B737-800s. They will also be used to grow the network, including launching new routes. Additionally, some XLRs will be placed with Jetstar.
While production and supply chain delays make predicting aircraft deliveries notoriously tricky, Qantas expects delivery six A321-200XLRs in the 12 months to June 30, 2026, and another eight deliveries in the 12 months to June 30, 2027, according to an August 2025 investor presentation. Including VH-OGD, Qantas has taken delivery of three XLRs this financial year, leaving another three to arrive before the end of June.
A half year update due later this week may see those delivery timelines tweaked.
VH-OGD is notable because it is the first Qantas XLR to feature a fourth toilet. The previous three aircraft only contained three toilets, with the sub-par passenger per toilet ratio creating some controversy.
The addition of the fourth toilet, which will eventually be standard across all the XLRs, resulted in the removal of three seats and a decrease in the aircraft’s overall passenger capacity to 197 seats.
Currently, Qantas has its three XLRs based at Sydney (SYD) and they are operating on three city pairs; Sydney – Melbourne (MEL), Sydney – Brisbane (BNE), and Sydney – Perth (PER).
Meanwhile, late last month, the next two A321XLRs, VH-OGF (msn 12835) and VH-OGG (msn 12853), were seen at Hamburg in primer and tail colours.
