Jetstar will start international flights from Avalon Airport (AVV) to Denpasar (DPS) in late March 2026. In addition, the Qantas-owned low-cost carrier will resume flights to Adelaide (ADL) and increase frequencies on the existing Avalon – Brisbane (BNE) city pair.
Jetstar currently offers around 18,200 seats per week in and out of Avalon, located around 60 kilometres southwest of Melbourne. That results in about 100 Jetstar aircraft movements per week at the airport, with flights to Sydney (SYD), the Gold Coast (OOL) and Brisbane.
But these numbers are going to change.
In a November 10, 2025, media statement, Jetstar said it will begin five times weekly A321-200neo flights to Denpasar on March 23, 2026. The airline will also restart daily flights between Avalon and Adelaide, having axed the route in early 2020. In addition, Jetstar will also add another five return flights per week between Avalon and Brisbane, supplementing the existing daily services.
It will see almost 6,800 extra seats per week put into Avalon.
”This is a massive step forward for Jetstar at Melbourne Avalon Airport,” said Jetstar CEO Stephanie Tully. “This investment will see thousands more customers fly through Melbourne’s second airport gateway.”
International flights return to Avalon Airport
The Denpasar flights will also mark the restart of international flights from Avalon Airport. While Jetstar has never operated international flights from the airport, AirAsia X flew between Kuala Lumpur (KUL) and Avalon between 2018 and 2020, and Citilink briefly flew into Avalon from Denpasar in early 2020. However, the pandemic shut both services down.
In 2022, AirAsia X returned to Melbourne but opted to fly into Melbourne Tullamarine (MEL). Citilink never came back, having decided to leave the Melbourne market to its parent entity, Garuda Indonesia.
“The Avalon - Jetstar partnership is now into its 22nd year, and this renewed partnership, both in domestic and international services, will deliver more frequency and better connections,” said Avalon Airport CEO Ari Suss.
The Victorian Government, Avalon Airport and Adelaide Airport are assisting Jetstar to scale up its operations at Avalon.
