AviLease acquires Fiji Airways A350-900

By Andrew Curran.

The ownership of an A350-900 on lease to Fiji Airways has changed. The vendor, GOAL Aircraft Leasing, sold DQ-FAN (msn 260) to Riyadh-based AviLease in December 2025. The aircraft will remain with Fiji Airways under a long-term lease arrangement. GOAL confirmed the transaction via a February 9, 2026, media statement.

GOAL, formally known as German Operating Aircraft Leasing GmbH & Co. KG, is a joint venture between German investment and asset manager KGAL GmbH & Co. KG and Deutsche Lufthansa AG. In August 2023, it leased two A350-900s to Fiji Airways (the airline had previously sourced another pair of A350s from DAE Capital).

The first of the GOAL A350-900s, DQ-FAM (msn 251), is owned by a US investment fund, with GOAL serving as the asset manager. Until late last year, the second GOAL A350, DQ-FAN, was owned by KGAL’s APF 5 fund and managed by GOAL.

“We are pleased to have successfully completed the first divestment of an aircraft from the KGAL fund,” said GOAL Managing Director Christian Schloemann. “GOAL applied its full range of capabilities to acquire this A350-900 aircraft without a lessee and place it with a reputable airline such as Fiji Airways.”

Fiji Airway secured its A350-900s on 12 year leases. The leases for the first two aircraft, sourced from DAE Capital, expire in 2031. The leases for the two A350s provided by GOAL expire in 2035.

The aircraft operate Fiji Airways’ long-haul routes to North America and Australia. They are pivotal to the carrier’s strategy of developing Nadi Airport (NAN) as a stop-over port when flying between North America and the Southwest Pacific. As part of this strategy, the modern A350s also help Fiji Airways compete effectively against airlines that offer nonstop flights on country pairs such as United States – New Zealand and Australia – Canada.
